Ahmed Al Shamsi is the Senior Vice President for Regional (MEAE) at Borouge since May 2017. Based in the UAE, he is also a Board Member of ADNOC Fertilizers, and was appointed in September 2018 as the first UAE national to become Chairman of the GPCA Supply Chain Committee.

As per his new role, Al Shamsi is responsible for leading the sales and marketing activities of Borouge as well as developing and implementing the long term strategies of the company within the region.

Al Shamsi brings with him a professional experience of more than 20 years in chemical engineering, project management and petrochemicals business. He joined Borouge in 2007 as Global Demand Manager at the Supply Chain Management department. Four years later, he became the Vice President of Global Planning in 2011. His outstanding contribution to Borouge’s growth enabled him to take up the position of Senior Vice President for Global Supply Chain in 2013.

Under his leadership, Borouge’s Global Supply Chain function has grown significantly in strength and capability until it became the largest function in Borouge Pte creating value for the company as well as for the customers through timely, quality logistical support whilst maintaining consistent outstanding financial performance. The experience he brings to the Borouge MEAE region would certainly contribute to further future success.

Al Shamsi first started his career in 1999 as Process Engineer at Abu Dhabi Gas Company (ADNOC-ATHEER). In 2001, he moved to the Industrial Development Fund where he took up the position of Project Manager till 2007.

Born in 1977, Al Shamsi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tulsa, USA, since 1999. He is also a holder of a Master’s degree in Quality Management (MQM) from the University of Wollongong. Al Shamsi is a UAE national.
